Your Privacy Matters

Inky Books ("Inky," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our voice-guided AI writing platform.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials.

Voice & Writing Data: When you use our voice-to-text features, we process your spoken words to generate written content. Your voice recordings are used exclusively to build your personal Author Neural Network — a model of your writing style and voice — and to generate your book content.

Content You Create: We store your book outlines, chapters, author profiles, and all content you generate or upload to the platform.

Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the platform, including features used, pages visited, and time spent, to improve our service.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Inky Books platform
  • To generate your unique Author Neural Network from your voice and writing samples
  • To create and store your book content, chapters, and outlines
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To communicate with you about your account, features, and updates
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve our AI writing models

3. Your Content Is Yours

You retain full ownership of all content you create using Inky Books — including your book manuscripts, outlines, character profiles, and Author Neural Network. We do not claim any ownership over your writing or ideas.

We do NOT: sell your content, publish your content, use your content to train publicly available AI models, or share your content with third parties except as necessary to provide the service (e.g., cloud storage, payment processing).

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption, access controls, and regular security audits. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. AI Processing & Data Sharing

Inky is an AI writing companion. To turn your ideas into a book, we send the information you provide — your onboarding answers, voice transcripts, book ideas, chapter notes, and the text you write or dictate — to a third-party AI provider, Anthropic (the "Claude" family of models), accessed through Base44's secure API.

  • What is shared: the answers, transcripts, and text described above, plus the book context needed to generate your chapters.
  • Who receives it: Anthropic, solely to process the request and return generated writing to you. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models.
  • Why: only to generate and refine your book content at your request.

Before any of your information is sent to the AI provider for the first time, the app clearly discloses this and asks for your explicit permission. You may decline; AI-powered features simply will not run until you agree. We do notsell your data or use it for advertising.

6. Other Third-Party Services

We also use other trusted third-party services to operate our platform, including:

  • Stripe for payment processing on our website (Stripe Privacy Policy applies to payment data)
  • Cloud hosting and storage providers for platform infrastructure

These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only as necessary to provide their services to us.

7. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and platform functionality. We may use analytics cookies to understand how our platform is used and to improve the user experience. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access and download all content you've created
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Export your book content in standard formats

9. Children's Privacy

Inky Books is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Contact Us
